Brighter Horizons Math, Science and Technology Conference
will take place on Saturday, March 8th, 2014
at California Lutheran University, 60 West Olsen Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA
Brighter Horizons 2014 is presented by the AAUW, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Camarillo Branches in partnership with the School of Education, California Lutheran University.
Last time, in March 2012, everyone had a great time at Brighter Horizons. They learned about robots that went to Mars, the stars in the sky, how to create a website, how to make a golden penny and much more. Seven hundred 5th to 9th graders were there.
Hope you didn't miss it !
Come back here to find more information about the upcoming Brighter Horizons as we will post our workshops as they are confirmed... and be sure to register early in late January 2014.
Brighter Horizons Conference nurtures students' interests in math and science related subjects to encourage them to consider careers in technological fields. Students in 5th to 9th grades are invited to choose 3 different workshops each led by a woman who is a professional working in the subject field. Workshops include hands-on activities that demonstrate tasks related to the subject and that, hopefully, spark an interest in the student. Workshop topics have included Forensic Sciences, Entomology (study of insects), Astronomy, Veterinary Medicine, Chemistry and Biochemistry for example. Thirty or more workshops are presented on diverse topics.
